What We Do
Our conservation efforts are grounded in science, collaboration, and action. Each of our projects are designed to protect threatened species, restore critical habitats, and build a future where people, animals, and the environment thrive together.
We focus on species and ecosystems that are under immediate threat — often overlooked, always vital. Below are some of the key conservation programs we’re actively leading or supporting across New South Wales.

Bellinger River Snapping Turtle Recovery
Once on the brink of extinction, the critically endangered Bellinger River Snapping Turtle (Myuchelys georgesi) is now the focus of a multi-agency recovery effort. Through captive breeding, health assessments, and habitat restoration, we are working to return healthy turtles to the wild and secure the future of this ancient freshwater species.
Frog Breeding & Rewilding
Australia’s amphibians are facing unprecedented threats, and we’re stepping in. Our dedicated conservation breeding programs for the Green & Golden Bell Frog and Southern Stuttering Frog aim to build insurance populations, restore breeding habitats, and support long-term survival in the wild.
Koala Habitat & Feed Tree Plantations
With koalas officially listed as endangered in NSW, we’re scaling up our efforts to protect their future. In partnership with local councils, landholders, and organisations like BlueScope and ANSTO, we’ve planted thousands of essential koala feed trees across Sydney’s south and the Illawarra.
Southern Greater Glider Nest Box Project
Australia’s largest gliding marsupial is now endangered. Together with the University of Wollongong, we’ve installed thermally-insulated, fire-retardant nest boxes in key Illawarra Escarpment habitats and are monitoring them with solar-powered Bluetooth cameras. This pioneering research will shape future conservation strategies for the Southern Greater Glider.
Koala Population Surveys
Understanding how many koalas are left — and where they are — is essential to protecting them. Using drones, thermal imaging, and habitat mapping, we are conducting detailed koala abundance surveys across South Sydney and the Illawarra to support regional conservation planning.
